The Black Student Union Presents
The Black History Month Show: Harlem Renaissance
The Black History Month Show is entering its third year at The Academy. The Assembly has been previously showcased to the internal school wide community, but it has always been a way to celebrate Black culture and history. This year is based around a theme: the Harlem Renaissance. The Harlem Renaissance was a time where Black artists stood united against much of the prejudice they faced in the art world, and defied the standards by creating art rooted in Black culture. Our student performers are dedicating pieces to some of these artists as a tribute to a time where Black art was unheard of. Join us Wednesday, February 24 at 7:00 p.m. to watch the performances live on YouTube.
